Today’s Six O’Clock Special was “Hank and Scots,” my tribute to the heretofore underestimated connection between Hank Williams and Scottish music makers. When Belle and Sebastian played at the Ryman (have I told you about that?), they performed “Lost Highway” and seemed to appreciate the magical, musical heritage that is the Ryman. My friend Alan (who is Scottish) had previously sent me his song, “Mount Olive,” which is about Hank Williams. The two events converged in my fevered brain and Voila! a radio show segment was born.
